What is the endocannabinoid system?

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a body system present in all animals except insects and interacts with our nervous systems, immunity, skin, bones, organs, and more. While research is still in its early stages, we know that our bodies make their own endogenous cannabinoids, as well as receptors present on almost all cells of our body that use these cannabinoids to send information to keep us healthy and maintain homeostasis (balance).
